DIEEI operates since 1971 at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Catania. The main activities of the Department are both teaching and basic and applied research that is mainly developed in six different areas: Sensors and measurement systems, Computing and Information engineer, Telecommunications, Robotic, Systems and control, Electrical Engineering, Electrical machines and power electronics, Electrical power systems, Microelectronics. In all fields the research activities involve collaborations, both at a national and international level, with industries and public institutions. The Department is also very active in performing research activities under contracts with the European Commission within the previous Framework Programs.
