Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) and Altron Inc. announced today that Altron Inc., a full-service electronic contract manufacturer, has selected the Agilent Medalist sj5000 Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) system to provide the flexibility needed to keep pace with ever-changing AOI inspection needs.
Already committed to automated optical inspection, Altron Inc. is replacing its existing optical inspection platform with the Agilent Medalist sj5000 on all six fully automated surface mount technology (SMT) lines, including one that operates offline.
"Agilent's sj5000 is a high-end system that meets the ever-changing technology requirements of today's electronics industry," said Al Phillips, president, Altron Inc. "We are excited to introduce the Agilent sj5000 to our production lines. The capability and flexibility of Agilent's system made this choice a necessity for us. Our continued commitment to quality improvement helps keep us competitive in the marketplace."
The Agilent Medalist sj5000 is Agilent's latest offering in automated optical inspection, providing pre- and post-reflow inspection capabilities. Developed to tackle today's complex and shrinking printed-circuit-board assemblies, the Agilent Medalist sj5000 can inspect even the smallest 01005 components, with no compromise in speed and resolution.
"Altron Inc. and Agilent make great partners," said Bill Astle, AOI business development manager of Agilent's Measurement Systems Division. "Facilitating success on the lines at Altron Inc. is a great opportunity to showcase our capabilities. The sj5000 is a well-balanced solution for helping our customers win in a competitive marketplace while providing cutting-edge imaging inspection."
