Session 3, chaired by Jeff Kennedy of Celestica, will discuss the necessity of conformal coating for protecting fine circuits from harsh environments. In recent years, with the advancement of more environmentally friendly conformal coatings and considerably more advanced application methods, conformal coatings are finding their way into mainstream electronics assemblies as well as the class 2 and 3 electronics assemblies. This has been compounded by increased complexity and miniaturization. Consumer products have become considerably more complex, costly and mobile, and manufacturer’s reputations are at risk if they face reliability issues in the field. The following presentations will be held during Session 2:
- Barry Richie of Dow Corning will discuss the application of conformal coating over no-clean process residues.
- Hector Valladares of Honeywell will discuss the standardization of electronic conformal coatings for Aerospace hardware.
- Ofer Sneh of Sundew Technologies will discuss atomic layer deposition of ALD coatings.
The second conformal coating session will commence on day two. Following that session, the speakers will host a panel discussion on best practices for conformal coating electronic assemblies.
