With nearly 2,000 employees and multiple locations around the globe, ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. is the largest worldwide developer, manufacturer, and marketer of fitness equipment. The company attributes its success in part to consistently “pushing the innovation envelope.”
As part of the manufacturing process, ICON’s wiring department needs to cut and strip multi-jacketed wire. This was done manually using hand tools resulting in a very time consuming process. To improve the quality and productivity of their operation ICON began to research alternatives.
ICON turned to Schleuniger, a leading supplier of wire processing machines, for a solution. Schleuniger suggested the PowerStrip 9500 automatic cut and strip machine for its ability to cut and strip a wide range of wires and cables. In addition to providing ICON with efficient, high quality, repeatable results, the machine is also extremely user-friendly. Operation progress and processing parameters are graphically illustrated on the easy-to-read display and all settings for processing standard wire and cable are already included. “Just about all the information needed is right in front of you,” says Traci Mayers, a supervisor at the ICON Health & Fitness headquarters in Logan, UT.
ICON also appreciates the technical support Schleuniger provides. “Any time I call to talk to a technical support specialist, I am treated with respect and they are always willing to stay on the phone as long as it takes to resolve the issue. I have never had a bad experience with anyone I have dealt with over the years,” adds Mayers.
