Thermal Management Applications for LED Solutions
Browning White Soldermask
White soldermask is commonly used in LED PCB board applications with metal core. A common failure mode for the end OEM is a browning of the soldermask. This browning occurs as a result of the cumulative heat cycles the board is exposed to during the soldermask baking and HASL processes at the PCB fabricator as well as reflow and wave solder at the PCB assembly operation.
SuperWhite Soldermask
We are working with our soldermask suppliers as well as suppliers not traditionally associated with the PCB industry to develop a SuperWhite soldermask that can withstand not only multiple heat cycles during the PCB Fabrication and Assembly Manufacturing processes, but also while in the field. We expect completion of this program during Q2 2009.
Light-Emitting Diode Solutions for PCBs
The need for thermal management seems to have started in military applications, but it's use is becoming widespread in power and light emitting diode (LED) PCB applications.
Our customers span a wide range of industries, including: Military; Telecommunications; LED; and Automotive.
